Believe it or not, children below 3 years old also suffer from depression. Notice them having disruptions in eating and sleeping pattern? Since they are in this age of learning and rapid growth, it is not impossible that they experience traumatic circumstances. They are vulnerable, and this was recognized by experts thus was further researched and was found out that some struggles with posttraumatic stress disorder.

Brain development will continue on when your baby feels loved and secure. PediaJustify Fulltrics stressed out that they should have "secure attachment at least to one parent for them to feel free to explore their environment". Feelings of comfort, safety and security must be recognized by the child. And parents have primary role to do this. Honestly, we can do this by instinct. By cuddling them, singing to them, and all those things we even can't stop from doing because we also feel the need to be close to them, they feel this love. But those times that the parent is stressed out, depressed or unstable, the child struggles with her. However, since they are still having difficulty adjusting and they are not even aware how to manage what they feel they tend to either be aggressive or withdrawn. They cry frequently, have tantrums, may seem hyperactive and at times have problems with attention and concentration.

Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma advises that parents open up to their babies pediatricians of any concern including fore mentioned symptoms for possible stress disorder. Since babies cannot take any anti depressant, their family have to turn to therapy. These medications cannot make the babies feel loved and secure; so look for something that would. And that will only be from her family and love ones.

This can lead to a lifetime problem since whatever happens in your childhood affects your adult life therefore it is a MUST that this be given attention.

It is natural for a kid to feel this separation anxiety especially when she got used to being with you 24/7, just as my kid does. It has been 4 years that I have stopped working just so I can personally see to her care. And now that I decided that she’s old enough to be left to a caretaker, she’s executing those signs to separation anxiety. She follows me like a shadow and pleads to come with me everywhere I am to go. Yes it affects me as well, the stress of leaving her behind to the care of someone else…but I do not let her see that. I know it will give her more courage if she thinks that I believe she will be fine with her babysitter. I try not to worry overly much to possible accidents that may occur while I am away, but I can’t help reminding her babysitter time and again of what to do and what not to do. All necessary precautions are being disclosed to her, every first aide…every tiny detail I can inject though I have trained her for almost 2 years now, I just have to impart them all again.

But I am proud to say that I have let go of my fear earlier than her grandparents, who up to now prefers that I stay home with my kid. Obviously, they are as affected with this separation as I am but I handled it better than they did.

The world we live in is full of heartahces. There are varying reasons to it; from individual achievements, personal griefs, fianncial difficulties and family problems. And within these, favoritism at times is a part of it.
Commonly, favoritism can be found within a family...and this is something that, up to now, makes me wonder why. A mother (or a father) favoring a child amongst her children, a grandparent favoring a grandchild, a parent or a sibling over other siblings. It is inappropriate, it is problem causing and heart wrenching...but it happens.
My own rationalism points to compatibility form person to person. That most often it is the match in personalitites, preferences, perceptions or beliefs. It may not always be the case, I may be making myself believe this giving excuses to other's unfairness. One thing I'm glad of...I am privy to this knowledge and so is sure not to give more favor to a child versus another.

Are you having problem with storage? Like you don’t know anymore where to put your garden tools since your basement is getting a bit crowded with your other things? Or your garage is just enough for your car that your bike and your kids’ bike have no place else to go but the basement again? What you need is a Metal Shed that you can place in your yard for as long as you want to. Its durability will withstand even the 10 year warranty being offered.

Imagine having a Metal Garden Shed with all your tools and gadgets safely inside. You don’t need to drag it all the way from your basement and back whenever you need to do your gardening that sometimes you postpone the luxury of taking care of your flowers just because of the tediousness of it all. Same goes for your bikes and motorcycles, that instead of leaving them outside in the rain because it won’t fit anymore in your garage, they now have a place of its own.

This is definitely the solution to the clutters you were thinking of just letting be.

I find such non-sense to be disapproving. Not in one way do I see it as healthy competition to hold a grudge over others just because it has been that way since you first walked. That clan after clan avenging or holding on to an old age misunderstanding is irrational. Can you not think on your own? Will you be continuing to be on the wrong just because your forefathers did? Or even be in the darkness of the truth just to hold your head up and not give in?

It is high time that you put the wrong to right. Whoever may be at fault ages ago, let it go and start living in harmony both inside and out. How easy it would be to live without ANY bitterness? You will be free to live, and you will be happier than your ancestors have ever been.

Or even of the present family competition within your circle of relatives…it is insanity wanting to be atop over the others. Why not be happy for the achievement of the others, or of their success? Remember, jealousy is of the darkness. And instead of criticizing your fellow, look into your own lives and live it with a thankful heart that you are where you are and not below it.

I see people victims of such evilness, either they themselves are tempted to look down on people or they themselves experience the harshness of such ungodly step downs. The reason mostly: pride and personal gains.

One of the pleasing characteristic of a Filipino family is the closeness within the home. So much so that it is normal to see children of parents in their old age is still under their wings though way into the age of adulthood. It is in fact a talk of the clan if and when a child is independent enough to live on his or her own and decides to move out. It’s never a question of capability; it is your love for your family to stay together until you get married. As I have said earlier, even married children sometimes prefer staying with the family.

And it works both ways, the children repaying the care their parents gave them by this time caring for them now that they are in their needy stage; and the parents not ever wanting to let go of the kid they raised plus enjoying to witness the raising of their grandchildren.

It may not be believable for other countries not practicing the same tradition, they may not understand it much…but old fashioned Filipino’s are pleased with this kind of arrangement. Some who had acquired other cultures do not go with this set-up anymore, but the weekly visit to the parents continues on.

Maybe to kids, yes...but to adults, it is not so common but it does happen.

I may then say that this is supposed to be a childish thing that has to fade away as we grow old. There’s the reason of vying for parental favors, or for community attention, or for personal growth. Supposedly, these kids are feeling their insecurities and trying to cope with their world. There is also that possibility of still at a state of not knowing themselves fully nor the proper norms…thus parents should be there for them to help them find themselves and build the confidence they need plus understanding of the importance of family and relationship; that this sibling rivalry should not exist.

And so it is sad to see grown ups to still have it with them at an age that they should have built the foundation of themselves. When they should have been molded the right way, the parents did not see the effect of this in the early years to the bond in the future. THEN AGAIN, adults are supposed to have a greater range of intellect to understand and put into action what is right and not the wrong. One just have to measure the importance of love in comparison to hate, of selfishness versus selflessness, and of good versus bad.

We are all kids in the eyes of our parents, and being an adult does not exclude us from that. They love us today as much as they did when we were young. They miss having the right to cuddle us, pamper us and guide us. And it is but proper to NOT take that right to being a parent to us away from them.

There are times that we see sons and daughters treat their parents unkindly, or even badly. It’s not an excuse that they are old or senile or have deteriorating reasoning for us to take advantage of their frail minds and bodies.

We should in fact, take care of them and show them more that we love them; that somehow in return for all the love and care they selflessly gave us in our early years. And how do we do that?

BE RESPECTFUL at all times. Not only on how we speak to them, but also by valuing their opinions, advices and decisions.
BE RESPONSIBLE to have the life our parents hope for us to have. They give their all to provide for yes just so we will have a bright future. Let it not be a futile effort by throwing it away by taking vices, not studying hard and having peers that will lead you astray. We should be responsible enough to have a good life and in return be able to take care of them in their twilight years.
BE UPRIGHT by keeping God’s commandments all of these are ways to having a good foundation to a sturdy life.
BE PRAYERFUL because this will give assurance to parents that you are in good hands; that God will take care of you even in their passing…in addition to God blessing you each day.

Being a daughter to my parents, it is heartwarming to be the recipient of their praises. To see their joy for an achievement I get gives me as much joy.

Now, being a parent myself, I can personally say that the days and effort of teaching is truly worthwhile upon seeing your daughter’s every single success. And more so now than before do I appreciate the love and care my parents showered over me because I feel the same need from my own child.
It isn’t easy being a parent, as compared to being a child to our parents. But most of the time, we don’t see that until we are a parent ourselves. Let it not be too late! That while our parents are still being given time for us to reciprocate that love given us, let us use that time and give them our love. Show them the honor and respect they deserve. Bring them the joy of having us by being the good son and daughter they hoped us to be…just as our Lord God hoped to see us, His children.

We have been raised to eat together as one family, and seeing other families not doing the same makes me pity them for the strong hold of each other that they have been missing. The bond created during this short period is not enough but will suffice in guiding the children than none at all. During this time, exchange of whereabouts and advices are being passed from parents, children and siblings, both for learning and simply enjoying the company of one another.

Remember that your children will grow along with your guiding words and that they will never depart from them. So start early while they were mere vines, easy to trim, cut and guide through its growth than when they are already sturdy trees that have already built branches which are nearly unbendable and unbreakable.

One of the old customs that I have seen to be practical is the writing down of the Last Will and Testament. It need not be legalized by lawyers as was the tradition if it will be too much for you, but by just keeping safe a letter that is dated and signed by you that will have to be opened at the event of your demise. There written will be the monetary or whatever treasure that you have and their passwords and appropriate information for the benefactor to know.

Some sees it unacceptable, saying you are the one hurrying to end your life. Think about it, no one knows when our time is to come. It may be tomorrow or decades yet. One thing you will know though, is that what you have worked for will somehow be given to your love ones. That in your small way you have shown them that you care enough to think way ahead of time for them.

So wait no more, just write them down, what harm will it do? REMEMBER though to keep it real safe. It might go to the wrong hands!

Who does not love pizza! I do not know a single person who does not eat pizza...even my 4 year old loves it. BUT O simply cannot buy it all the time, and so have bought bits and pieces of ingredients to make a home-made pizza in a bread.

Any plain bread will do, my little girl loves the Filipino "pan de sal" more than any other, so I do the pizza in a pan de sal. I sauteed the mixture if I have time, or if not, buy the Del Monte Pizza Sauce and just add either slices of ham or hotdog, grated cheese on top and put it in a toaster.

A filling and colorful snack for your little ones! That's what you need if you have kids at home, imagination, less time consuming and healthy food. This one does have calcium. If you will learn to vary your prepared food to serve, you will meet their nutrient requirement. It may not be daily since they do not eat as much as adults do, but be sure to meet them all in at least 3 days. And remember to give them treats once in a while...like this PIZZA PAN DE SAL!

In starting a family, we always put into consideration the nest to the family members. Priority to a safe haven where the love will grow within, and that is the family house. But at the rate wherein living is becoming more and more difficult, we need help with that…and that’s where Real Property Management comes in.

Yes, it is an ultimate goal to own a house of your own but we can start of by renting a place as we save for that dream house. Or we even have a choice of targeting rent-to-own places, may it be a house, a condominium or the whole building.

Another is when we manage properties that we don’t actually live in. We buy lands and lease them, we put up apartments and have them rented…this is not an easy thing to do, but Real Property Management will make it easy for us. We can actually earn while we watch.

Our car is being eyed by this friend of mine who do the “Buy and Sell Cars” as his source of income. I have got to admit that our family car, an old model Corolla, do need to be upgraded! But as much as I would want to ~ IT’S A FAMILY CAR! It’s not just me deciding.

But I am doing a little convincing. There’s the question of “what to buy after?” and “will brand new or used cars be appropriate?” or “which car dealer would give us the best?” Questions as such should not have been a problem if we were in UK; and if the concern is buying cars.

Then again, IT IS NOT A PROBLEM! Because in our family, as I would advice every family, JUST TALK IT OUT and TOGETHER you’ll get the right decision!

There were childhood memories that seem to have gotten lost in our brain archives, but there were some that stayed though it were decades ago…especially those meaningful ones that have etched in our hearts and have been a guiding light to our path to where we are now.

Often, they were words of wisdom from our very own tour guides, our parents. I have a lot of them because they never faltered in showing us the best way, always steering us on to the right path. They have instilled in us the love for our family, for one another. And one unforgettable teaching of love is our loyalty to each one. That no matter what happens, we stick beside our siblings. It’s not relevant if your sib is on the right or wrong; what is important is that you be there for one another! Because there should be no one and nothing to come in between you, and that there should be no one better to support you more than each other.

Treasures such as this are kept in the confines of my very soul. And I know, I will honor it as much as I love my parents.

Saying “I do!” gives us the jitters, but is it just for that very moment of saying the vows?

I’m sure before a couple reaches that very climax of standing before tons of guests, the whole clan of both and different sets of friends, they have gone through the phase of thinking, “am I ready for this?” and “do I really want to be with this person for a life time?”…Even more so, of that greater concern of building a family.

We can say that this STARTING A FAMILY is a very big and serious responsibility because this time it’s not simply being accountable for your own good but of other lives as well. Of innocent souls that will depend on you for them to live and of what they will become in the years to come.

CHILDREN are wonderful blessings that every loving parent desire, but let us not forget that once you beget them, you will have to be there for them AT ALL TIMES. You are expected to shape them to the best of your capability through constant supervision and guidance, by being a role model that they are to imitate and last but definitely NOT the least by ensuring that they are traveling the right path in their Spiritual Life.

In your own personal dictionary you would have to delete divorce, annulment, infidelity, abuse, selfishness…and every negative word that will affect your family. Highlighted there would be GODLINESS, happiness, love, care, security, respect, encouragement…positive traits that you will be needing to keep the family shining in the eyes of it’s members and others; and to keep the family intact!!!

My li’l girl will soon be turning 4, and as always, I am more excited than the celebrant=)

She’s an easy to please kid, and when I first asked where her birthday will be held…she’s okay with the idea of spending it here at home with a candle to blow on her “brown”cake. But her dad was at fault for putting ideas on her cute li’l head. He asked if she wants it held at every kid’s favorite place to be, JOLLIBEE! What a rhetorical question! And so, every time you ask her now, she wants it in Jollibee, with Popo as her guest of honor, (That’s the mascot with French fries on his head! And for those who aren’t familiar with Jollibee, that’s the Philippines counter part of McDonald’s) plus her friends around the neighborhood. I would love for her to experience that but I don’t really find it wise to do at this time when everybody’s affected with the global crisis, at the same time remembering last years party at a certain venue we rented for a bigger area, decorated, and arranged to perfection…which was really so tiring. Unfortunately, Anya have a very keen memory of what was said, and I told that to her dad.

But then again, my Anya is the every-moms-wish kind of kid. I told her, what if we just celebrate it together with her dad, go some place she loves and do whatever she wants?! She nods and said okay, and when I suggested the mall and the Amusement Center, she started blabbering which rides she’s going to ride, and what games she’s going to play. When I repeated that we’re going to do it all with her dad, this is what she added, “ opo, pati sila papa at lahat tayo pamilya” (“yeah, and also with grandpa and our whole family” - that includes her grandma, closest uncle and closest aunt; everyone she holds dear to her heart). In fact she even included her Caregiver and playmate, Josi.

She’s so like me…”believes in putting family first!”
