It is not everyday that you get a free diet consultation. But here in my site you get free nutrition advices. And today I am here to once again TO GIVE YOU A GENTLE POKE that is a concern to most especially those craving for good health.
Are you aware of your body’s need for vitamins?
I have encountered individuals believing that vitamins are fattening, this is a misconception! Vitamins per se is NOT fattening. There may be some vitamins that make you gain appetite but it does not make you fat (just as the other misconception of water making you fat). Vitamins keep you healthy because vitamins are what the body needs to function the way it is made to function. There are substances that the body produces already, and lack there of needs to be consumed from dietary sources or from supplements; and there are some that the body does not produce therefore have to be provided again from dietary sources or from supplements.
Dietary sources or food contains vitamins and minerals that our body needs. The amount we intake though is not always “the more, the better”. Bear in mind all the time that “Everything in excess is not good”. Take everything in moderation or according to your body’s need. Common example is the Vitamin C. The need for it varies. If you are having colds, higher stress, healing wounds or vitamin c deficiency like scurvy you need higher doses. Dietary consumption can make up for it usually, like taking in a lot of vitamin c rich fruits and juices. Oranges and other citrus fruits, guava, strawberries are some examples of it. But if unable to do that in cases with mouth ulcers or if not really fond of eating them, supplements are advised. The same goes for other vitamins and minerals that your body needs. If you are confident that you are meeting the daily requirement for the vitamins through your food intake, supplements are not necessary. Otherwise, supplements are made specifically to compensate what you are not taking in through natural sources.
Recommended is for you to consult your doctor/dietitian. Do not just believe in ANY article you read that may lead you to believe in misconceptions and to risk your own health. Most especially, DO NOT TAKE IN MEDICATIONS that you heard to be good and effective for your friend…not everything that goes well with the other goes well with you. SEEK PROFESSIONAL’S ADVICE FIRST.
