Its not only adults that get stressed, children get stressed too. And one of the most common stress for them is going to school. We parents have to be aware of this. Let us not jump into conclusion that they are just trying to be hard on us. That they are just being a brat. There may be a valid reason for their fear. And being the more knowledgeable, we should handle it with patience. We have to deal with it the same way we deal with our own problems and so much more.
Remember they are dependent of us. They are innocent and vulnerable. Let us show them the right way in facing fears. Make them understand that it is okay to be afraid of the unknown but they must face it with bravado. Also, make them trust you and your words so guide them into believing you. Be honest but spare them of too many negative thoughts. Stick to your words, be firm but compassionate and understanding.
It is also best that we make sure that they enjoy their stay at school. Provide them with the best things you can like the nicest nap mat, the prettiest stephen joseph bag or the most preferred lunch tote. Let them adjust to things, but make them feel more secure as they do so. It will be so much easier for them that way.
Stress takes off calories and sleep therefore their health can also be at stake. Provide them with the food that is nutritious. Make sure they have enough rest and sleep. Getting sick will just add to their burden and stress.
