It is disheartening to hear someone admit of not favoring vegetables. I even have encountered some who do not even know the names of those greens that are mighty important in our daily diet.
Fiber can be called the “sweeper” of body trash. It carries off toxins that may be scattered along our passages; excess fats, unwanted left-over’s, whatever else that we need to get rid of. Gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases can be avoided if we give importance to this high fiber diet.
We will have lower risk to Gastric Ulcers if we have fiber in our diet since it alters gastric emptying time. It helps in clearing our intestines since it normalizes intestinal transit time thus will prevent us from suffering from constipation and hemorrhoids, having Diverticulitis or other lower gastrointestinal problems, and finally the colon cancer that is getting higher and higher in prevalence. It also decreases serum cholesterol and triglycerides, or in lay mans term, our blood streams carrying fat can be diverted into passing them out than getting clogged in our arteries thus also reducing risk to Heart Disease. Possible gall bladder stones are eliminated due to its capability of binding bile acids to which the gall bladder utilizes. And since it delays glucose absorption those excess sugar can be managed. Glucose control is improved due to increased sensitivity of peripheral tissue to insulin.
Fiber in the form of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grain, cereals, oats, wheat; may it be water soluble or insoluble, is essential in every person’s diet. It is just a full diet with greater emphasis on fiber-rich food.
How inconvenient will it be to do what we love most, to eat, and be free of those diseases fore mentioned?

Zero fat means NO FAT, GOOD OR BAD!
I know we should have GOOD FAT. Good fat that we call Polyunsaturated Fat and are found as fish fat. Taking a lot of this helps us achieve our goal of lowering bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol, therefore lowering our risk of heart disease and other diseases that are related to it such as diabetes and stroke.
So what could be the reason for TOTALLY ELIMINATING FAT in our diet? One thing, Gall bladder stones (with or without infections). Rationale for this is to prevent stimulation and contraction of the gall bladder, it being where the bile are stored to which emulsifies fat. Thus, if you are preventing pain due to your gall stones, avoid intake of fat; animal fat (meat, fish) dairy products (milk, butter) or any food/product that is not fat-free.
Better yet, have those stones removed!
