You’re wondering why your pre-school kid won’t sleep like any other ordinary kid? Well, you’re not alone in this. Many mother’s get a hard time putting their kids to bed may it be an afternoon nap or night time sleep.
“I don’t give him coffee”, one mother voiced out. Of course you don’t, but maybe there are other caffeine containing beverage or food that you give him. How about a chocolate drink? Or cola? Remember, they both contain caffeine. Or sweets probably before bedtime? That causes them to be in that hyperactive state.
And it’s not only in whatever they partake, but also of the things they do prior to tucking them in. It has been proven that television, computer or video games makes their minds alert with all the colors and the abrupt changes in pictures. Even in adults, such activities stays in our memory that when you finally lay down and tries to sleep you somehow sees them still as if recorded in our own monitor inside our head.
Therefore, it is advised that a few hours before bedtime, it is best to have a routine of having simple and relaxing activities. Story telling is the most popular to parents. I do that before, but then my little one have this vivid imagination that when I tell her stories, it’s like letting her watch a movie. Since finding out that she is inclined to music as well, I started our own routine of drinking warm milk (to relax the muscles), putting down the lights and either singing to her or putting on soft music. Well, of course she sometimes sings along at first but soon enough she will be lulled to sleep.
Have your own routine; just make sure that it will make them sleepy and not more awake.
Hearing the word FAT often creates negative feedback, dwhen there are also "good fat". These fish fat, as was the focus of my previous post, are good for the body. But it not only gives positive effect on our health but also to our MOODS.
Omega-3-fatty-acids coming either from fatty fishes like the salmon family or from capsules are said to lighten the moods even of thse with polar disorders. In one study, researches have recorded dramatic results of less stress in subjuects given such diet.
Sugar and sweets have time and again given significant findings to affecting moods as well. With these two combined, fat and sugar, chocolate surfaces. And so it is not surpising to hear of CHOCOHOLICS. With chocolates you get the "feel good neurotransmitter", serotonin in the brain, working. And in this event, endorphines are given off which gives one the feeling of pleasure like when we are laughing a lot, listening to good music or hugging. The presence of even the so called PEA (phenylethylamine) that is both in chocolates and is released when in love is something that we all prefers to have to be in that same mood ~ being in love.
