"...tis the season to be jolly, falala-lala-la-la-la-la"
December to January is definitely the months most people await for every year. It is the season to feel the love in the air, the season when we are most jovial, the season of cheers, hugs, gifts, and food.
Why good and bad for the health?
GOOD for the health in the sense that you get a lot of added exercise with shopping and visiting love ones. And increase in mobility equates to increase in metabolism or the burning of energy. More like having a well appreciated exercise! And with this comes gladness and those emotions that are pretty much evident this season, thanks to the release of endorphins.
BAD for the health comes when you think of all that you have consumed as compared to your usual monthly consumption. With all the visitors and the visiting you do it is but expected that there is food. More so is the quality of food served during such festivities. Not only will you be consuming high caloric food but also those cholesterol and sugar laden food that you are trying to avoid or at least lessen. If you are not mindful of its effects after the fun passes by, you may overindulge yourself and regret this irresponsibility thereafter. Why not do the "just taste a little" if truly craving for it and not "splurge today and sacrifice tomorrow"?
You can make it ALL GOOD by being wise. Have fun and enjoy yourself but also be aware of whatever you will be putting inside your mouth. May it be food or drink always choose the lesser evil...the least unhealthy that is being offered, and the quantity that will satisfy the craving but not to the point of over indulging. HEALTH IS WEALTH should invisibly be blinking more in your minds eye than those beautiful lights around. Everyday late nights and lack of sleep should also be given notice as this also compromises your health. Have a happy holiday but have a happy "after" holiday as well!!!
