As the summer start to wave goodbye and the rainy season fast approaching, it is either you thank the heavens that we finally are off the hook with heat strokes, chicken pox, measles and other dry season related diseases or say a prayer to spare us with the wet season diseases.
One of those common ailments that children and adult alike get during the rainy season here in the tropics is the Flu. Not only would the one infected have the common colds but so with high grade fever, muscular pains and headaches. Let us not believe in the old age notion of getting it from being drenched with rain, but be informed that the rain in itself does not cause it but of the virus infection that beats you after compromising your immune system with being wet.
The thing to do then is to be in good health for our body to fight the said infection that is airborne. Ensure with enough rest and sleep, vitamins and minerals through food especially vitamin C and proper hygiene and cleanliness at all times. Hand washing still is helpful in avoiding transmission.
This applies as well in avoiding the most common flu that is creating scare to most, the AH1N1 virus.
