WIDEN YOUR PATIENCE SPAN...the healthiest weight loss is only 1-2 lbs per week. This is if you don't want to disrupt your system or if you do not want to lose a few pounds and still far from your goal, it suddenly goes on plateau.
Weight reduction is not as simple as how the celebrities says it is when they are promoting products. They themselves know for a fact that it takes a lot of hard work and conviction. You don't just say I will not eat today and shed those unwanted flabs. You might go up your weighing scale and see a pound or two less than yesterdays, but it will come back the moment you drink water, because obviously you just lost fluids and not excess fats.
What you need is a proper diet plan, reducing calorie intake at right proportions and not in mega doses; and also you need routine exercise and not killing yourself with 12hour run today and none at all the succeeding days or weeks then kill yourself again.
PATIENCE is the key. You cannot hurry losing what you have gained over time. And you have to do what is right and not what others believe to be right that isn't so. We are all unique in our very own way thus YOUR WAY may not be the same as HER WAY. Consult your physicians first for any health concern you might have that can harm you with your preferred exercise than give positive results and dietitians to guide you with your meal plan.

Losing weight is not about dieting or eating, it's actually about calories. If you're intending to lose weight or just maintaining weight or even trying to gain weight, you must know about yr calorie input & output. In simple words, we need to know the kinds of food and their calories thereof that we eat and on how we're going to rid of the excess calories. For a start know yr BMI and work from there.
@ hans ~ i agree...start with your BMI ;) the reason for my widget there...to help you take the first step.
But then, food is ALL ABOUT WEIGHT friend. though you're right about the calories, do not forget that FOOD HAVE CALORIES (except for water and artificial's) thus your input can very well affect your weight gain, weight maintenance or weight loss. The difference only is what you're eating , how much you are measuring, how much you are exercising (burning of calories) and if you're building muscles in exchange for fats.
More posts coming to expound on such...keep reading ;)
i'm waiting for more such inputs from you
