Talking about pooping may be funny, but it’s not a laughing matter to have Constipation. Some battles with this condition every time; children or adult alike. Either they experience headache, malaise or the feeling of being ill-at ease, and even foul breath…plus the usual tummy ache one does when one has to go, but the problem is…could not.
This constipation comes about due to lack of fiber and fluid in the diet, lack of exercise mostly to bed confined individuals, not responding right away to the urge to defecate like when in the field most of the time and have no choice but to postpone going to the john, over-use of laxatives resulting to dependence and immunity, and over consumption of constipating foods.
What to do then TO AVOID constipation is to increase fiber intake or to include it in every meal. Sources from fibrous fruits like oranges/pineapple are preferable, leafy vegetables, beans, legumes, oats, bran, cereals, etc. Increase your fluid intake, 8-10 glasses if possible. Remember that Agar-agar (jello/gelatin) helps increase water in feces by binding it there and so can be used as dessert or included in drinks. Simple carbohydrate or sugar can stimulate peristalsis thus instant juices is also an ideal drink, prune juice being the best among the rest. Fat serves as lubricant, but the use of good fat/oil is advisable. Mineral oil is being eliminated as a choice since it causes malabsorption of fat soluble vitamins.
We don’t want causing more trouble than mere constipation.
Aside from diet we need to keep moving, exercise really gives all the advantages ones health needs. Also, do not delay pooping. Give it time as you do taking a bath. Try potty putter if you want. This is a fun way of going to the john and relaxing, if you need to. Some need music, some need silence and concentration. Some read, and some play. This then is an option for you. As always: EVERYTHING IN EXCESS IS NOT GOOD…and so with laxatives. Please consult your physician. Especially if you already HAVE the irregularity of bowel movement, because it’s not always high fiber diet to which is given for the management for ATONIC CONSTIPATION; It can be bland and low fiber diet for SPASTIC CONSTIPATION.

When I was pregnant, I was given iron supplements and that caused constipation on my part. Papaya and pineapple are very effective in fighting constipation. :)
