It’s one of those ordinary days, and I was just checking my mails when another forwarded message that I have once received was in my inbox yet again. Maybe it meant something…
And so I’m here sharing with you this meaningful thought through this email message:
A man was sitting in a barber shop and having his hair cut when through the glass windows peeked a man in rags; a beggar in our common term, smelly even just with the look of him…he went across the road and rummaged through the trash. Unaware that the barber is not just fixed on avoiding his ears with the scissors, he was a bit surprised when it commented that “There really is no God!” Not nearly as astounded with the booming voice than the very thought of what he said made the man commented, “What made you think that?” Without further ado the barber replied, “Well for one, there will be no beggar like that if there is a God”. In deep thought, the man paid his due and went out of the shop.
As he was about to go, a man with long beards and greasy hair stood up front waiting around the curve. The man went back in and announced, “There really is no barber!” The people inside that shop looked up but not as surprised as the barber who service him just a few minutes ago, “How can you say that? I am a barber and I just finished cutting your hair!” The man shrugged towards the greasy haired man outside, “Well for one, there will be no long hairs like that if there is a barber!”
In a flabbergasted tone the barber replied with “ but they just have to look for a barber and ask for his help!” With a smile the man replied, “EXACTLY! Just as it is with God, one just have to look for Him and ask His help!”
First time I read this, I can’t help but applaud the one who started it. It’s clever of him/her to have spread it because it really is moving, and in a way a poke for us to sit back and think if we are as blinded as the barber of God’s presence in our lives.
