WALK OR RUN

Posted by JENIE=) Wednesday, February 3, 2010

It seems that more and more people are getting aware of the benefits of diet and exercise to promote good health. I hear of “health freaks” and “health buffs” talk nonstop of eating this and that, walking, running, burning calories; words that have been constantly with me since belonging to the medical health team.

I started having interest on it years ago. I practice and give advice and lectures on proper diet, but guiltily have not had the time to do any routine exercise of my own. Now I am planning to, especially when I saw this treadmill at Online Sports Store. It comforts my fears of running in the neighborhood and meet face-to-face with dogs that are made to roam around by insensitive neighbors, be at eye level with the evilness of the world (the news of muggers, kidnappers, rapists reminds us to be careful) or have unfortunate accidents in the road like being run down by reckless drivers.

Treadmill definitely let me do what I have always wanted to do, lose those excess calories I take in, ensure myself of lowering the risk to having a heart problem since it runs in the family, give me more endurance to long walks and not make me pant every time I do, and firm up my muscles in the lower part of my body (buttocks, hips, thighs, and legs). Whichever type there is, it serve the same purpose for me, but I guess it will fit my preference better to have one that will save space, the folding treadmill. How about you?

  5. Walking is by far the safest exercise and yet still very effective in weight loss. It has little to no wear and tear on the body.

Running is also an excellent exercise and even though it gets your goals met quicker, it does tend to wear and tear on the knees and legs.

  7. "Treadmill definitely let me do what I have always wanted to do, lose those excess calories"..................... Good for you Jen, but the truth of the matter is that to get rid of those excess calories you should in the first instance decides on what's yr calorie input before focusing on yr calorie output. Based on my own experience, treadmill is definitely helpful in getting rid of some excess calories but you have to closely watch the calorie input. Our body starts to burn off the excess body fats only after at least 20 minutes of aerobic exercise. So knowing yr BMI & calorie position is very important before attempting to rid of excess calories. Btw, excessive exercise may not bring in the required result too and for those not having much time for lengthy exercise session, a vigorous 30 mins a day 4 days a week is sufficient provided the calorie intake is closely monitored (bear in mind too that sometimes the calorie reading given by the treadmill meter may not6 be quite correct).
